Acer palmatum Butterfly

Acer palmatum Butterfly exhibits a distinctive appearance marked by its unique variegation known as "fukurin fu," resulting in cream or white accents on blue or gray-green leaves, creating a striking serrated edge effect. In spring, a delightful blend of pink and green hues adorns the leaves, transitioning to a white and green combination through summer. Grafted specimens (i.e. not from cutting) really grow well, reaching heights of up to 6 meters, although such specimens are rare to find apart from with us. The tree may occasionally revert, producing branches with typical "palmatum" style leaves. Timely pruning or pinching during early growth stages preserves Butterfly's charm.
